Editorial policies

All submissions fulfilling the journal’s requirements (regarding the field, format, the English language, and scientific quality and significance) will be reviewed anonymously by at least three or more national and international referees expert in the field. The corresponding author could also suggest potential reviewers to the journal at the time of submission. However, the editorial board reserves the right to select or refuse to use the suggested potential reviewers. This review process is double blind, in which the reviewers don not know the identity of the authors and their affiliation. On receiving reviewers comments, authors are requested to send the revised article, and a copy of their reply to the reviewers, including the comment and explaining the replies to questions and changes made to the revised version. Proofs will be sent to the corresponding author to be checked for only typographical errors and other essential small changes. Major alterations to the text as well as changes in the name of the authors are not accepted at this stage. Proofs must be returned to the Editor within 5 days of receipt.

Manuscripts should be submitted online using the “Submission Form” section on the journal’s homepage http://pbr.mazums.ac.ir/. Manuscripts must be created in Microsoft Word. This journal does not accept manuscripts that are simultaneously being considered by another or other journals or already published elsewhere. Similarly, this journal requires the following statement provided in the Comments to the Editor in a cover letter: “This manuscript submitted has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration".

• Authors should sign a copyright form stating that the article is an original work, has not been published before and is not being considered for publication elsewhere in its final form either in printed or electronic form. The same research must not be published in more than one journal. If a manuscript contains any previous published image or text, it is the responsibility of the author to obtain authorization from copyright holders.
• The PBR uses the COPE flowchart for retraction of a published article.
• PBR is committed to deterring plagiarism, including self-plagiarism. Plagiarism will abort reviewing process and Plagiarism is not acceptable in PBR.

• For the sake of transparency in regard to the performance and reporting of clinical trials, we endorse the policy of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors to refuse to publish papers on clinical trial results if the trial was not recorded in a publicly-accessible registry at its outset. The register now available is https://www.clinicaltrials.gov/ sponsored by the United States National Library of Medicine, we encourage all potential contributors to register with it. However, in the event that other registers become available, such as http://www.irct.ir/ you will be duly notified.

• Consent for publication: For all manuscripts that include case details, image, photograph and/or video of patient, written informed consent for the publication of these must be obtained from the participants (or their parent or legal guardian in the case of children under 16) and a statement to this effect should appear in the manuscript. Permission from a relative should be obtained wherever possible if the patient is deceased. This signed form must be presented to the Editor if requested. The final decision on whether consent to publish is required lies with the Editor.
